Root Canal Therapy in Modesto, CA

Save Your Tooth. Relieve Your Pain.

A root canal treats infection or inflammation inside a tooth. The procedure removes the damaged pulp, cleans and seals the inside of the tooth, and relieves the pain that brought you in. With modern anesthesia, most patients say it feels similar to getting a filling.

Signs You May Need a Root Canal

Inside every tooth is soft tissue called the pulp, which contains nerves and blood vessels. Deep decay, a crack, or an injury can let bacteria reach the pulp and cause infection.

  • Severe or throbbing toothache, especially when chewing
  • Lingering sensitivity to hot or cold
  • Swelling or tenderness in the nearby gums
  • A pimple-like bump on the gum
  • A tooth that has darkened in color

What Happens During Treatment

When a case is complex, a 3D CBCT scan can show the shape of the roots and the extent of infection in ways a regular X-ray can't. We numb the tooth thoroughly, then make a small opening to remove the infected pulp. The canals are cleaned, shaped, disinfected, and sealed. Most root canals are completed in one or two visits.

Afterward, the tooth usually needs a crown to protect it from cracking, especially for back teeth that handle heavy chewing.

Why Saving the Tooth Matters

Keeping your natural tooth preserves your bite and jawbone and avoids the cost and time of replacing it with a bridge or implant. When a tooth can be saved, a root canal is usually the most conservative choice.
