Tooth Extractions in Modesto, CA

Quick. Safe. Comfortable.

We always try to save a natural tooth first, but sometimes removing it is the healthiest choice. When an extraction is needed, Dr. Kaur makes sure you're fully numb and comfortable, explains each step, and talks with you about replacement options so you're never left wondering what comes next.

When an Extraction May Be Needed

An extraction may be recommended when a tooth is too damaged to repair, badly infected, loose from advanced gum disease, or causing crowding. Wisdom teeth that are impacted or keep getting infected are another common reason.

What to Expect

After an exam and X-rays (and a 3D CBCT scan for impacted wisdom teeth or complex cases, so we can see nearby nerves and sinuses), we numb the area completely. You may feel pressure, but you shouldn't feel pain. Simple extractions are often finished in a few minutes. Afterward we place gauze and give you written aftercare instructions.

  • Bite on gauze for the first hour to help a clot form
  • Avoid straws, smoking, and spitting forcefully for several days
  • Stick to soft, cool foods for the first day or two
  • Use over-the-counter pain relievers as directed
  • Call us if bleeding, swelling, or pain gets worse instead of better

Replacing the Missing Tooth

If the tooth isn't a wisdom tooth, it's usually wise to replace it so neighboring teeth don't shift. Options include a dental implant, a bridge, or a partial denture. We'll discuss these with you before your extraction.
